I hadn't had Thai food in a while so when my boyfriend suggested White Orchids I immediately agreed. Having just spent the day in the garden, on the farm, and basically not feeling very glamorous, I was relieved that everyone seemed to be pretty casual. I was a little hesitant because an Asian restaurant with majority Caucasian employees usually means watered-down Americanized food. My boyfriend had been here before (and having been to Thailand, as well as eaten at some of the best Thai restaurants in Hong Kong) so he assured me it would be good. We settled on the Lettuce Wraps as an appetizer, and shared the Pineapple Fried Rice and Pad Thai Ta-Lay, both spiced medium-hot. We gobbled up the lettuce wraps even though he had just eaten a snack, I was surprised at how good they were. The pineapple fried rice wasn't very spicy at all, but the noodles were hotter, which was almost at my limit for heat. Eating the two side by side was complementary so that I wasn't overwhelmed, so I suppose it was good that it worked out that way. I was impressed with the depth of flavors in all the dishes. Service was adequate, our server was sweet and checked up on us regularly. I found the prices to be a bit high, but I suppose that for the area that is to be expected. I would go back again!

Going to be quite honest... I am originally from NY/NJ and I know Thai food, spices, dishes and how much things really are. upon walking in, it is a pretty restaurant. We were seated quickly and our waitress was great. Our appetizer "money bags" we're great! I had the tilapia w the crab and jasmine rice. My fish was good, but I didn't see how it was $32 My partner had the drunken noodle, also good but $20 ?? I can understand that there are not alone of choices in Lehigh for Thai food but that should be NO reason to double up on the prices of dishes. No thanks white orchid... There were things on the menu that upscale places in the city didn't even charge and if they did, the ambience def. makes up for it. I was not impressed enough with this place to return. Meh

First time that I order something spicy in the US that is actually spicy! Good mix of ingredients in every dish, hot and sweet and very well cooked. Service is good and quik. My favorite where the Chicken Satay Skewers with that sweet and tasty peanut sauce. The Scotish Salmon Pad Prik King was very tasty and I asked for the most spicy one and they did a really good job on that. Fish flavor was great but a little bit overcooked, that's part of the fifth start there. Everything else was Traditional Thai Money Bags are cool, nice crunchyness and very original, I was not amazed by the stuffing, the mix of chicken and shrimp gets you, but their taste kinda' gets lost, don't get me wrong, they're a good snack and the sauce is very good, another part of the fifth star. The Molten Chocolate Volcano Cake is great but the "lava" was almost fully cooked. Since this cake is overly sweet I like it with coconut ice cream instead of vanilla, I switched but forgot to tell them not to add any chocolate syrup on it and that's on me. But it is a great choice. Last but not least the Summer Rolls where good and fresh but the lobster flavor was missing due to the delicious mango, for me maybe a more acid mango would been better. I would get back if I have time available.

I came here at least 4 or 5 times a month for the pineapple curry duck and the money bag(appetizer )~~ it's really good and the staff are friendly and professionals~~ and the food is great~

This is our umpteenth time at White Orchids, but, unfortunately, it's our last. Prices are high, portions are small. It's just not worth it.

Food was good, although the peanut sauce was less than stellar, but the music piped into the restaurant sucked. They lost a half a star for that alone.

This place is a jewel. We came in for dinner. We did have reservations and were seated quickly. For an appetizer we had dumplings, which were well cooked and had great flavor. For dinner we had the drunken noodles and the Pad Thai respectively. I cannot be more enthusiastic about the drunken noodles. The flavor and the texture were amazing. The decor is great and the staff is friendly. The place is about 20 minutes from my house and I will certainly be driving the 40 minute round trip to get take out from here in the near future. For desert we had the goat cheese cheesecake, which was amazing. One of the best cheesecakes I've had in recent memory. Be warned, the "big beers" on the menu are liter or so sized. I would suggest ordering them at the start of the meal or splitting with a friend. Otherwise you may not get to finish it.

Had a late dinner here, last Friday night. Service was excellent. Our server couldn't have been nicer and more efficient. Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the basil chicken dish and he had the salmon curry. Both meals were excellent, fresh, and seasoned perfectly. Our only disappointment was that we were unable to sit outside, since no table was available. The inside seats and ambiance were very nice, as well. We will be back.

So besides the fact that the food was pedestrian. The bus boy is clearing tables without a receptacle to place dirty dishes in. He was stuffing used dirty napkins in his pockets while balancing glasses and slipping bowls of dripping soup and rice. It wasn't a one time thing, he continued to do other tables in the same manner....gross. I've had microwaveable frozen Asian rice dishes that would give this place a run for its money.

Americanized Thai food = pricey & lacking authenticity. I found the Thai money bags to be a bit over fried, but a good filling appetizer. We had an order of the drunken noodles & the basil stir fry. The drunken noodles were excellent (I recommend medium heat) and the basil stir fry was lacking a major component (BASIL) and flavor. Stick with the noodles at this place and expect to pay double from what the other local competitors charge.

Excellent food, good service, and reasonably priced. My wife and I came here for dinner last night and we loved it. She eats a "gluten free" diet due to a gluten intolerance and the had so many options for her to choose from. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and pleasant. Food came out quick and was delicious.

I really enjoy this place. The quality of the dishes, ambiance, staff and service are always wonderful. I recommend the Panang Curry, one of the best dishes I've had there. It can be a little pricey, which is why I held back on 5 stars. Be sure to call ahead for reservations on the weekend as they are often very busy.

  • Sus K.

Nice decor, but that is the best thing about it. Starters are good. Entrees are ordinary.Tiny proportions (not enough for an average adult). Food is much more expensive for what you get and the taste is nowhere near what it should be for their prices.

  • Rachit S.

Food and apps were very good and the apt portions, Spice levels appropriate, Staff was prompt and polite. i tried the tom yum soup and drunken noodles, both were excellent. Others at the table ordered the coconut soup and loved it. Panang curry is awesome too. Thing that most impressed me was their drinks menu. Although you don't expect in a Thai restaurant, white Orchid has good mix of craft beers, scotch and cocktails. I recommend this place if looking for a Thai food.option in the Lehighvalley area.

This is not real Thai food in my opinion and I've been a few times for lunch and dinner but I'm just not impressed with the food, great atmosphere but not great food for the money.

As noted in another review, the food here is very good, and prepared in a traditional Thai manner. The care put into the dishes is evident, and the taste is wonderful. Be aware that there is a huge difference between "medium hot" and "hot". If you are not familiar with Thai hot, be warned... it's nuclear. If you go with medium hot, but want a bit more heat/flavor, ask for the house garlic fish sauce. It shouldn't be missed. The lacking star is due to the overwhelming prices. You are truly paying for the Promenade experience here at White Orchid. There are several other Thai locations in the region who offer a similar meal without the sticker shock, as long as you do not need the cloth napkin atmosphere. But, if you are in the mood for good Thai, and have the available resources, do go to White Orchid. You will enjoy your meal!

This is hands down one of my favorite Thai restaurants. The service is always wonderful and food is out of this world. The app portions are very large so you might consider sharing. I am vegan and they have several options on the menu that can be altered. Also, the head bartender is amazing and makes the best cocktails. They also have a great selection of craft beers. He is always willing to answer questions.

Delicious food, delicious drinks, awesome service! Only had the thai money bags and red curry wings, but they were both amazing! Love their outdoor seating the summertime, great view of the greenery. A must if you're in the area!

  • Caroline B.

Best Thai food in the valley!! Everything on the menu is made with the freshest veggies and ingredients. I have tried many items on the menu and every single thing I have tried is outstanding! I also absolutely love the outdoor seating in the spring/summer. Definitely recommend :)

The positives first: Located in a very nice upscale shopping mall, very friendly staff, very rich menu (with a lot of seafood choices), great plate presentation. The negatives: We ordered our meals (pad tai with sea food) "mildly spicy" and it came close to tasteless; we requested a side order of lemon grass sauce to correct the lack of taste... and we were charged an extra $5 for it. It may have been a one night fluke for the place as it was crowded and seems to be well appreciated by the locals.

Great night out for Thai food Calamari in a light tempura batter and traditional Money Bags for apps. Crispy duck and Bangkok Curry with crab and shrimp for entrees. Very spicy but delicious. Finish everything off with Thai Fried Coconut Ice Cream. Brilliant, delicious, reasonably priced.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. The food is not authentic Thai. It is disgusting. The tom yum soup is sweet which it's not supposed to be. The lettuce wrap rice was hard and inedible. The peach sangria tasted like water. The drunken noodle and sea bass green curry was edible. This place ruined my first Mother's Day experience.

Back in the day, this place was AWESOME, hands down the best thai in the valley. I recently ordered takeout. I got two drunken noodle orders, one with veggies, one with chicken and the bill came out to around $40. I was shocked when I went to pay. I should have looked at the prices, but I always order drunken noodles from thai places so I just assumed it wouldn't be too expensive. I don't mind paying for good food, but the noodles were bland. I don't think white orchids is awful, I just think it has slipped a little and I probably won't be back because I just don't think their food is good enough for what they charge.

  • Emily S.

Very impressed by the menu - lots of gluten free & vegetarian options. We had the coconut shrimp & lobster rolls to start - both pretty good. I had the Spicy Noodles with pan-seared duck at a medium heat. It was a generous portion & very tasty. The coconut shrimp as a side is a little dry but has great flavor. I tried some of the Pad Thai & almost wished I had gotten that instead! The peanuts were served on the side which I thought was great because the peanut flavor tends to overwhelm the dish for me. Overall a nice place for Thai food in Center Valley. A bit pricey but worth it.

Excellent meal, creative menu and drinks. A bit pricey, but worth it. We go maybe once a year to really splurge.

Good thai food, tom yum soup used to be good, now it's too sweet. Their panang curry is very good here as well as the red curry, summer rolls and money bags. Green curry and spicy or drunken noodles aren't that great but still not bad. You must try their molten lava cake, it is to die for. A little too pricey for whay you get but still very good

As far as Thai cuisine in the Lehigh Valley goes, you could certainly do slightly better and pay considerably less at one of the other local establishments. I don't necessarily have anything negative to say about White Orchid other than they're a bit overpriced, but you can exactly blame them with that Promenade rent to cover. White Orchid's curry is always great and the atmosphere is excellent. If you're looking for an "upscale" Thai experience, this might be a good option.

  • K B.

Stopped in to pick up lunch. Ordered green curry w vegis. Charged me for a dinner portion along w an extra charge for vegis which come w the dish. $20 for a lunch portion is ridic. Won't be going here again.

I've eaten the panang curry at White Orchid mulitple times always hoping it might get better, but it never seems to have any flavor or much spice. Pretty disappointing!!

This is a great place to go for a girls night out or if your just ordering takeout. I am a frequent take-out customer. Can't get enough of their Pad Kee Mao and Pad Thai.

    (5)
  • Jesse T.

A little on the pricer side. The food is not bad. The Pa Kee Mew is delicious. They have a duck option without skin. Chose the shrimp for protein and was not disappointed. Tom Ka soup is flavorful.

  • Anna N.

One of the best thai places I ever been to. They have the best pad thai. Drinks are amazing, lychee martini is awesome. Service 5. Definitely great linch or dinner place.

  • Andy K.

Seriously, my husband and I thought we were being punked. We are big Thai fans, and there was not a thing Thai about this food. The drunken noodles had no basil, but instead had a burnt oil taste to them. My husband got coconut rice that was just white rice with shredded coconut on top. That one really made me lol. The decor is nice, but save your money and go get real Thai food.

Every time I come to White Orchid I am impressed. The service is always extremely attentive and kind, and the overall atmosphere is romantic and a little authentic but still very modern and fresh looking. My food is always great no matter what I decide on. Definitely my favorite restaurant in the Promenade. Keep in mind it is a little expensive but I definitely think it is worth it.

This was our first time here. I'm from California where I have been to some great Authentic Thai restaurants. Don't get me wrong the restaurant is beautiful but I wanted some good customer service. I just got back from a 9 month deployment and we had a very horrible experience. We saw that it was busy which was understood for the half an hour to 45min wait. But once we were seated it took 10min for someone to even give us water. It took over an hour for us to get our food. I was with my brother and my 7mo pregnant wife with twins. We should have just gotten up and left. I don't remember how long it took for us to get our appetizer. We will never go back to this restaurant. The food wasn't as great as I would have expected. Food is pricey. Nothing special about the food. The table next to us were seated way before us and we got our food before they did. It's a busy restaurant but I don't think they have the capability to handle a large amount of customers.

Service here is always attentive and good, up scaled prices. Though food is ok, I prefer Thai Avenue Restaurant on W Tilghman St.

What a fantastic surprise! My co-worker suggested that I check this restaurant out. I had a delightful meal starting with Jasmine tea and coconut soup with vegetables. The soup had just the right amount of heat ,so delicious! The Pad Thai with crab was great too! A fantastic atmosphere added to a great overall experience. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. We agreed we would remember this meal for a long time. We can't wait to return!

Nutshell: good food, but not "$45 for 2 people" good. Decent food minus high prices minus marginal service is where my 3 stars come from. Like any Asian restaurant, you'll have to pick and choose if you eat low carb since most dishes here are rice or noodle based. Our experience was a step above "okay". Greeted and seated quickly, offered menus and drinks promptly. Servers seemed like very young suburban kids and somewhat inexperienced, but friendly. Not conscious of customer waiting times between courses and the bill. Prominently displayed at the kitchen window was one more mature Aslan lady handing the food out. The menu is rather limited. The one on Yelp at this time is not current, as it includes yellow curry which is no longer on the menu. Turns out you can get it, but must ask. A staple like yellow curry? Appetizer was fried tofu with chili sauce, fine, not special. Ditto our entrees. We both got curry bowls, one green curry w/ vegetables ($15), one masaman curry with shrimp ($17). Both were good, just not exceptional. Much sauce without much content - the masaman shrimp curry had two tiny potatoes, a few cashews, and five smallish shrimp, a little disappointing. The amount of rice served was not generous at all. Had we gotten drinks or dessert (most of which were on the higher priced side) the bill would have been even more out of line. It'd have been ok if the food had come from a takeout place, in which case the prices probably would have been lower and matched the food quality and quantity, but this was eaten in at the restaurant, and I think that's what we were really paying for- the overblown decor and lighting, and generic pan flute music, as well as the Saucon Valley real estate. Really, we don't mind spending more than $50 for two people, but make it worth it. This meal didn't earn its price tag.

Not worth the trip...my last couple of experiences here were sub par @ best. Fine for cocktails but the entrees are uninspired. Last visit my wife ordered an overpriced Thai seafood dish that included "lobster" as an ingredient. Lobster was rubbery, stringy and obviously frozen. We expressed our displeasure to the waitress and she said she would let the cook staff know and that was it. Service was also very slow and inattentive. I have tried this restaurant four times over the last twelve months and each dining experience has gotten progressively worse. Its is a shame because it is in a great locale, but if you want excellent Thai inspired cuisine with stellar service and fresh ingredients I would head to downtown Allentown and the Bayleaf. I will not be wasting any more money at the White Orchid, and I highly recommend looking elsewhere for good Thai food.

  • Aaron T.

White Orchids has good Thai Cuisine. They don't give a spicyness option on all their dishes, so you may want to request a little spice on some of their dishes if that's what you're looking for. It has a very nice atmosphere. Service quality varied during our visits. They have an excellent cocktail menu to choose from.

  • D S.

This has to be the worst Thai food I have ever had. From flavor to price. From the pretentious decor or the server with no personality, you would be insane to spend a dollar here. I asked for the spicy noodle to be spicy and the waiter recommended it to be medium spicy. I agreed and was shocked to find the lack of spice period. I had to dump half of the chili paste to give it heat and a spoon full if chili powder for spice. The food is so over priced it's not even funny. We got the sampler and the Thai money bags where burnt. At 18 dollars for an appetizer, you would think it would be great. I would have sent it back but the waiter spent more time on his phone then at the table. I would not recommend this place. How anyone from The Morning Call had anything positive to say baffles me. At white orchid you are definitely paying for the decor, not the service or quality of food.

    (1)
  • Timothy D.

Wasn't too bad. I went over valentines day and the food didn't seem completely prepared correctly - the thai pad was stuck together ad a little on the lumpy side. My entree was better. I haven't been back since and typically go into either city for Thai.

Just the right twist to make thai classics perfection for the US. Staff is warm and friendly and not only are the entrees and appetizers amazing, the specialty desserts are unique and delicious.

Yum! Haw Muk Seafood was delicious. Asian Pear Saketini was equally fabulous. A little pricey, but so good. Nice ambiance too.

We went there for a group dinner with 12 people. The service was fine, mostly young kids who were energetic and attentive. We were served family style for appetizers. All were good but a bit under spiced for salt and heat. The main course was fried rice w shrimp, yellow beef curry, chicken pad Thai, and tilapia. It was all okay but again could gave used more heat. Desserts were good: tiramisu, mango w rice, but no offers of tea. Now by itself the meal was fair to good the price $60/person was very steep for the quality.

  • Brett C.

For a traditional sit down kind of experience it was quite nice. Just don't expect corner take out type pricing. You are definitely paying for the experience as well as your meal when you come here. Priced and decorated for a more fine dining experience but still casual enough to come in off the street in jeans. I'm thinking the high rent of this shopping center has greatly affected the menu prices. My friend and I both had the tom yum soup, she had the green curry, and I had the drunken noodles. We were both satisfied with the amount of food and its quality. If you are used to rating Thai just make sure you order your meal "hot" or "Thai hot" for a true experience.

The food was amazing, had calamari, pad Thai and a great beer. The first beer I ordered they were out of, that and the 90 dollar bill for two of us to have lunch on a Monday were our biggest complaints. Don't get me wrong- the food was amazing, just be aware of the prices.

This was our first time at White Orchid and we were impressed. My husband had the lemongrass soup with shrimp which he ordered very spicy. It great but was almost too spicy and he almost never says that! I had the mild coconut soup with chicken which was delicious. For entrees, I had the Massaman Curry with shrimp and he had the Pineapple Duck. Both were awesome but he would have liked his a little spicier. The waitstaff was very nice and efficient. We will absolutely return here!

We love this restaurant for the atmosphere and decor mostly, although it's pretty spendy for Thai food - but that's what you get in the Promenade Shops. Very nice drinks menu, excellent service, good portions and nice flavors. They've stepped up portion sizes in the past 2-3 years. I do have to agree with a previous Yelper that the bathroom is pretty sad for a place of this caliber, ESPECIALLY the homestyle cheapo changing table with foam pad (which is pretty dirty/grungy. I wouldn't put my kid on that!) They need to step that up. Otherwise, when we want sit-down Thai where we can get a martini in a classy atmosphere, this is the go-to spot.

Good solid food with some nice lunch specials. The specials seem a bit complicated but once you can figure out the menu you are on your way! I've been here a few times and nothing on the menu has been disappointing.

I used to love this place..but I'm not sure what happened. Prices seem to increase everytime we used to eat there. They do have a vegan menu which is great but for 2 people to eat for 55 bucks. TOO MUCH!! last time we ate there the food had a weird oily taste, Pad thai was horrible and there was a 4 inch hair in my mango and sticky rice!! gross!! called them to tell them about issue , instead of refunding me my entire meal they gave me a whole 10 $ to replace the mango and sticky rice. i think they need a lesson in cutomer service. will never return here again. The only positive I can say about White Orchid is they are they only ones that serve traditional Papaya Salad, which is great, but I'll wait till I go back to Thailand.

  • Susan L.

I used to love this place, but it's become less impressive to me. The ambiance is nice, and they style the food well, but the actual taste is ok. The panang/red/green curry is good, but I'm not sure if it's any better than Thai take-out that I can get in the city. Basically you're paying for the atmosphere, not necessarily the food.

A very fancy looking restaurant with smiling well dressed staff, an elegant bar and high prices that you would expect of culinary level food. The problem is this food is neither culinary level or authentic. If you want to wine and dine in a fancy establishment with an exotic cuisine that is dumbed down for the "American" palette than this is the place for you. My Tom yum soup was hardly sour or spicy and had a sweetness that I've never experienced before in a sour and spicy soup?? I tried 2 curry dishes that were equally over sweetened and after ordering the medium spice level could not detect so much as a hint of spiciness. The theme seemed to be make everything fancy looking and overly sweet? When I noticed no prik nam pla at the table (which is standard at a traditional Thai table) I was brought some sauce that didn't seem to contain fish sauce or fresh chili and once again, although a bit spicy, had a sweetness to it! Also the first Thai restaurant I went to that didn't have yum nua under the salad section (one of my favorites). Our bill for 4 was $150. which consisted of 4 meals, 1 appetizer and 2 drinks. Ouch! I'm just not fancy enough for this place -lol

I live in the area, and finally decided to try this place. I know Thai food well, and have had it in NJ, DC, and NYC many times. Bottom line. It is way overpriced, and not good at all. I would not mind the price if it was good though. Chicken satay should be thin, and grilled, with an authentic peanut sauce. They served us boneless chicken tenderloin with what seemed like watered down peanut butter...bland, and no taste. We got 2 dishes..ginger scallops, shrimp, and chicken basil. Both to be stir fried. I saw no indication they where stir fried. ALL vegetables seemed like they where steamed with NO seasonings....bland. The scallops where supposed to be seared..they where not. They where mooshy, and fishy tasting....not good at all. The shrimp was boiled, and tossed in the mix. No flavor at all. 2 people where there, and we concluded that the food was NOT Thai, it was some Pennsylvania Dutch attempt at Thai. Def will not go back. Go to Bangkok Thai on Lehigh street, or A1 Japanese on Lehigh street. Both are really good! Went in expecting good food....it was awful!

This place has great food and delish appetizers! Spicy if you want and mild if you don't - always fresh veggies and plenty of tofu if you prefer! A bit pricey but a cool place to go!

I found White Orchids while in the ABE area for business. When I realized it was part of an outdoor shopping area I should have known it wouldn't amaze. And it didn't. BUT it was quite good. While it did taste very Americanized to me, it was still a good meal. My biggest complaint was that I ordered my soup medium spicy and it was perfect - spicier than I'd consider to be medium, but perfect for that same reason. But then I ordered my curry the same way and it was bland as hell! I think they left off the spice entirely on that one. It was 3pm on a Tuesday and they weren't busy at all, but my server was nowhere to be found so I couldn't get any chili sauce to kick it up. Not horrible, not great - totally middle of the road.

I gave this restaurant two stars, the food was pretty good, but not outstanding. What really blew us away, was the bill! $95 dollars for two people! We each got one drink, mine was $!0 and my friends was $11. For the quality level of the food, this food is way over priced. The drinks are also overpriced. We won't be back.

I love Thai food so my boyfriend and I decided to check out White Orchids. It's really awesome that you can customize your level of spice, atmosphere was wonderful, service was great. However I was disappointed in the portion sizes for the price. Overall it was good, I'd go back. But there's better Thai restaurants in the Lehigh Valley for the price.

  • Akshay B.

Been here couple times and every time the food quality seems to go down. Basil stir fry - had a ton of onions in some sauce and was horrible. Would never even dream of ordering it again. I had asked for extra veggies and the only veggie extra was the onion. Summer rolls - peanut sauce was tasty and the rolls were good. Pad kee mao - Was flavorful but the portions were tiny. Pad Thai - was bland and hardly had any veggies or tofu. For the price, portions and flavor I would give this place 2 stars and wont be going back again.

The only reason I ever go to this restaurant is because their curry is so memorable that it draws me back there. I think the flavors are so well balance, especially their red curry. I also appreciate that when I order my food "thai hot," that it's actually hot. I've also tried their chicken satay with peanut sauce, along with a few other appetizers. They're fun to try and haven't had one I didn't like. As for other menu items, I can't really say much. I usually come here with one goal in mind: curry.

went yesterday for restaurant week was a slight wait for the entree the hostess (Ashley) was very pretty draft been was good (Oberon) the restrooms are sub par compared to the price you pay for food (compare to a Kome for example) spicy noodles were well prepared, tasted great, tons of onions which i dont care for sticky rice is delicious for the price i can recommend this place thought it is not a 4-star for me, food quality IS a 4-star, portions 3-star (even not the restaurant week menu) quiet atmosphere, though it may be cold inside if you are near a window did i mention the hostess was pretty?

I went here on a weeknight and sat at the bar. Nice atmosphere. Friendly and good looking staff. I ordered a $15 chicken curry bowl. What I got was a small bowl of rice with about 4 small pieces of chicken and a few potatoes in it. It was so non-filling that I had to order an appetizer afterwards just to feel full. The taste of everything was good, it's just that the portion sizes don't justify the price. For $24 I got what would be about $12-$13 worth of food at a less fashionable Thai restaurant. Next time I will go to a less fashionable restaurant.

After going here a number of times and having a number of pretty good meals and some less than stellar meals, my wife and I went last week and had a terrible meal. My pad see ew was pretty bad, but my wife's shrimp dish was absolutely inedible. This place is too expensive and the portions are too small to put out such inconsistent quality. Decent ambience and ok service, but too way too spotty on the food.

Pineapple fried rice was excellent! The Thai pumpkin custard not that good. Crab cakes had a little bit of bite but quite good. Shrimp in a blanket thick shell requires the sauce. Pad Thai was quite yummy but warm

Let me start off by saying that I'm from California, and I've lived in both Northern and Southern California. We have AMAZING Thai food, which I miss dearly. That being said, this will be my new go-to place for the flavors that I miss... basil, garlic, chilies... good quality ingredients, made the way I like it! The Pad Se-Ew was just right... the Tom Yum was also delicious, and made the way I like. Don't ask for it above medium hot, though... the chili oils sit on the soup and burn the hell out of your mouth! The Tom Kha was a bit more milky than I'm used to, but it was still tasty, and I liked the different mushrooms they put in there. Yes, it's more expensive than Thai food I would order in CA, but at least it's made deliciously, and the service we had was great, to be honest. Everyone was professional and courteous, and no one gave us a coke instead of coconut juice! (Thought that was a very funny situation to have happen, I'll admit. Weird!!) The setting is lovely, the wine list very diverse and with some real winners on there, too. I've tried three other Thai restaurants in the Lehigh Valley, and none of them were up to my standards for delicious, typical Thai flavors. I don't care if they were cheaper, they just didn't do it for me. I'm really happy that I finally got my hot, Thai injection that I've soooo been craving! And I didn't have to go all the way to New York to do it!!

White Orchids did not meet my thai food expectations. When I go to a thai restaurant I expect to see a large menu with so many choices it is hard to decide. There were so few choices on the menu that none of the dishes were grabbing my taste buds. They also didn't ask you how spicy you wanted the food. My food was barely spicy, it was almost bland. I can see how other people would like this restaurant, but they did not have any noodle dishes i like and I am not a fan of coconut milk. I will not be returning.

The food quality was good - but not really as good as the prices are expensive. I would rate the appetizers as very good and the entrees as on par with a typical take-out thai type place. Service was not bad, but very odd at times. They were PACKED - crazy busy, we had a reservation and got seated within a few minutes of the reservation time. Our orders were taken in a timely manner, our water glasses kept full at all times, the waiter checked in often to see how we were doing. There was a slightly long pause between our appetizers being cleared and our entrees coming out - maybe 10 or 15 minutes - not really anything to get upset over and impressive when you consider how busy they were. We needed to keep and reuse our dirty silverware (like at a diner) - but as a plus they wrapped our leftovers up for us. Two things I love in a restaurant - plenty of water and when they wrap the leftovers for you. Here's the odd - I ordered coconut juice (it's on the menu) and the waiter came back - set a glass of coke down in front of me and said "I couldn't find the coconut juice so I brought you a coke instead." Umm, ok, no I mean, not ok, I don't want the coke thank you anyway - I'll just stick with water. I hope he didn't think I was being rude, but I can't drink a coke at 7:00 at night . . . Why would you bring someone who ordered coconut juice a coke as a substitute? Just weird! The female wait staff were all wearing the most ridiculously scanty clothing - maybe that was to distract you from how expensive the drinks are - watch your tab!

I've been to White Orchids five or six times. Each time I leave, I feel less impressed about the restaurant. I've had about 10 different items on the menu, which, while not scouring the whole menu, is fairly representative of their menu, I believe. My "have to try dish" is always the papaya salad. Theirs is ok - but it is in the bottom third of all the papaya salad dishes I've eaten over the years - probably about 20 different Thai restaurants over the years. The Tom Yum soup is good. It has a nice balance and blending of flavors. However, the last time I went - and the last time I will go - I very explicitly informed the server that I wanted the soup to be "Thai hot." I truly don't think any seasoning was put into it. I was so annoyed that my very specific instructions were ignored that I won't return. That being said, I think their moneybags appetizer is really excellent. The last time I was at the restaurant I also had a dish of jasmine rice and crab meat. It was truly outstanding. A notch above. I'm giving three stars (originally gave two stars, but decided to change it) because my instructions have been ignored on two separate occasions at White Orchids. I don't know if the problem is that the servers think their clientele don't know how hot Thai hot really is, but give the customer the benefit of the doubt and make it the way they specifically asked for it. My other problem is that some of the basic dishes are just ok. If you are going to go to a restaurant that seems to position itself as being better than the average area restaurant in that genre, make sure all the dishes are better than the average restaurant. Especially at some of the prices that you are charged at White Orchids. The basic dishes should be a lot better. The more high end items on the menu are quite good. But I'm giving three stars only because you need to take care of the basics like customer requests and the basic dishes ought to be better.

I just had lunch at this place and it was terrible. It was my first experience with Thai food and was a pretty horrible representation of Thai food in general. I agree with many of the reviewers here-overpriced and not a lot of choices. We were originally headed to Kome which is always fantastic, but we made a last minute and regrettable switch to this nightmare. I ordered the lemongrass soup- filled with mushrooms which I hate. A menu item description would have been helpful here! I topped it off with a hellish Crispy Spinach Salad which looked and tasted like chargrilled ash! I sent the salad back and was given a microscopic replacement plain spinach salad I could have found at even the cheapest diner. The waiter was inattentive and unconcerned. He only took a couple dollars off of the final check and acted like he did us a big favor. Needless to say, never returning to this overpriced dump!

WO has some of the best thai food I've had. I usually get a curry bowl but the pad thai is great too. The summer rolls are a must--very fresh. I usually try to bring a dd so I can take advantage of the amazing booze selection. Can't wait to go back.

As far as quality of food goes, this place is great. Everything is fresh and I have never had a problem getting what I wanted and it coming out tasting great. However, this is not an authentic thai experience and the menu options are limited to "safe" options. It is quite trendy, which can either be a negative or positive depending on how you look at it. When this place first opened it was BYOB but now that they've expanded, there is a full bar and a decent wine list. Last time I was there, we got a bottle of organic Gewurztraminer that I really enjoyed. As far as service, it is hit or miss. This past time our server was training someone and failed to introduce him so it was really awkward. Not to mention she seemed like a quiet girl and didn't say much. Luckily, she got everything right and her timing was great. If you do decide to come here, try to Chicken Satay appetizer. The sauce is amazing.

Definitely good food and a great atmosphere. But this i just don't understand: HOW can pad thai cost more than $7? Is it really hard to find coconut milk in the Lehigh Valley? Is thai food a novelty out here? Just know what you're getting into here: You're paying for the atmosphere and, if you're interested in them, some creative-sounding specials. But if you're just looking for some thai staples, order in from somewhere else. If I want atmosphere, I know how to light a candle in my living room. Then again, I do have cats. Maybe I should learn to pay an extra $5 to get out more.

It seems like most of the negatives about White Orchids relate to the service, so it was with a bit of extra interest that I called the restaurant yesterday to see if two people could be seated around six pm...on a Saturday. Call it a test. The host was friendly and said she thought we'd be able to be seated, so here we were, expecting a bit of a wait, etc. You can imagine our surprise when there were at least seven empty tables, and she still had to check if they were free. Oh-kay...strange. There were still four empty tables when we left around seven- maybe not a busy Saturday? Anyway- the service was good, especially our server. She was attentive without being smothering, and we especially appreciated her awareness that, when we ordered all vegetarian food, she asked if egg and fish ingredients were ok. They were, and more to the point- everything was fantastic! Appetizers: Vegetable and Tofu soup- delicately flavored and SO well done. The veggies were perfectly cooked! Spring rolls- good, if greasy, but that's the expectation, right? Mains: Tofu Pad Thai- Not spicy at all, but still good. Next time I would get it "mild"- but you never know w/ Thai places, right? The spicy barometer is all over the place. Thai Spicy Basil Stir Fry- nicely smoky and very tasty, if a bit heavy on the onions. The veggies were perfectly crunchy, but this also makes for VERY potent onions. Also, I ordered straight off the menu and it wasn't spicy at all. Go figure. Mango and Sticky Rice- This dish is nigh impossible to ruin. It's always amazing. Try it if you never have. Price: about $45 for two Decor: well-done, kind of modern chic Thai/Pier One Attire: most were well-heeled, but there were also jeans and a few flip-flops- I get the feeling it's nicer later in the evening.

White highschool teens serving Thai food...nuff said. Trendy, overpriced, mediocre Thai spot...very disappointing. Save the parking hassle, and hit up Thai Thai II or Thai Kitchen. Had veg Panang curry, and some version of tofu tod...the Panang had no spice to it at all, even after requesting "spicy", and it was so watery and bland. The tofu tod was stale-ish...over cooked maybe, but the inside was dired and tough. The rice was under cooked, kind of mushy...now I am a huge fan of rice on the stickier side, but this was too much. As much as I can forgive satffing issues, and even the occasional overpricing...both those and sub par food to boot!?!? I really hope my experience was a case of "a bad night", but judging from a few other reviews, I am guessing not. A real shame, had potential.

I have never had a bad experience here. I love that there is a seperate vegan menu and the food is always super tasty. The people who work there are extremely friendly and the owner is almost ALWAYS there. It's trendy and family friendly but also great for a date or going with your friends. There are good Thai places in the valley but I always enjoy coming here because of the food, the atmosphere and the location.

Had the pad thai - it was mediocre. Maybe I'm spoiled by the many different authentic thai restaurants I've frequented in Philly when I lived there but White Orchids seems more hype than anything. Prices are quite high for the quality and amount you're getting. I also tried the red curry and yellow curry of two other diners in my party and wasn't impressed with either of them. But for the Allentown area, I guess it's decent.

Loved this place! I loved the variety in the menu - the appetizer list took up half a page! All meals can be prepared Vegan or Gluten Free and all Tofu is organic! Very important to me and nice to know that they are respecftul of that. First off they brought a huge bowl of rice out for everyone to enjoy with their entree. The rice was so amazing , almost creamy, which I enjoyed with a Red Curry Tofu bowl (that was $15 and lots leftover). Some of their more elaborate dishes were in the $30 range. It was almost a creamy soupy consistency with veggies, tofu, in a savory curry sauce (which I asked for to be prepared at a medium spiciness). Each curry dredged bite was packed with flavor and spice that I couldn't get enough. I washed it down with a mango martini that was perfection and served with the ripest mango I have ever had that literally melted in mouth. I also might add this is one of the first Thai restaurants that I had been too that had a bar. I will recommend this place to everyone!

A second star only for the ambience. I used to like the food at this place. Always thought it was a little pricy, but didn't mind as long as the food was good. The last 3 times I had been here were utter disappointments. Each time I ordered a different dish and tasted some from my wife's or friends'. They all tasted quite bad. The chef probably got replaced and the new one is not at par with the old one. Not going back here or recommending it to friends.

It comes in just at the top of my price range, meaning I would go here more often if the dishes were just a few dollars less (the reason for 4, nor 5 stars). However, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is lovely, so I can't complain. Most dishes can be made with your choice of tofu, or meat. Everything I've ever had here has been great! It's almost hard to try new things because you crave the things you know and love so much. I am still not sure if this is a "fancy" place or not, as it usually seems to have people dressed up nicer mixed with jeans-and-flipflop wearers that had been shopping at Old Navy.

Met a friend at the Saucon Shops and we decided to get a bit of dinner at WO. They were not busy and had at least ten tables open, but we still had to wait 15 mins to be seated. Our waitress was a bit rude and didn't take the time to explain anything on the menu even when we asked questions-mind you, this is not the first time I have eaten Thai and I wanted to see how friendly and knowledgeable the staff is. I ordered the pad Thai and wanted a certain amount of heat...she looked at me as if I had three heads and kind of scoffed when I requested a certain spicyness. The iced coffee was good, but how can one screw up some coffee, condensed milk and sugar? Overall, the food was lacking something and it was not as hot as I would have liked-probably due to the arrogance and rudeness of our server in not even considering the fact that I was the customer and wanted MY food that I was paying for prepared a certain way. I was glad to run out of there never to return.

Went here for an early dinner with my wife on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Overall the food wasn't very good and heres why: We started with an order of Calamari, when we got it, it was loaded up with breading, which wasn't cooked through. My wife got a martini which was good, but tasted a little weak. Dinners were sub-par. I got the pad-thai with chicken and prawns, while she got the pineapple fried rice. My pad thai had over cooked noodles, and a lack of flavor other than hot. My wifes dish didn't have a lot of flavor at all, and the rice was also overcooked. Overall the experience wasn't very good, and we both felt that $65 for dinner was overpriced for thai food.

An amazing dining experience for my wife and I. Definitely in the top of the Thai places we have been to throughout the US. Fantastic service by a long time server there who knows the menu, and had spot on recommendations. Good cocktail list (each martini can be made as spicy as you want). Wine list was above average as well. I enjoyed the "Prik King" and my wife the "Masaman Curry." We would be back if just the service or the good were great, but with the combination of both, we will now be frequenting this place. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

I'm decidedly "meh" on this place. I went here for an anniversary dinner with my wife, and came away underwhelmed. I'm desperately seeking a good Thai joint, and this place just didn't cut it. My criteria for Thai places are as follows: 1. A picture of the king must be posted. (Extra points awarded for being closed on the king's birthday.) 2. The menu must be longer than four pages, front and back. 3. The staff must ask how spicy you want your food. This place meets none of this criteria. And it's a bit pricey. The food wasn't bad by any means, but for what I paid and what I got, I was unimpressed. Why can't I find my gritty little Thai place, with a crowded kitchen, bottled Singha, and a menu so long I just can't decide? I seem to have to hold our for a business trip to the bay area for my favorite place in San Mateo, or a great place outside of Phoenix when I visit family for Christmas.

White Orchids is not in full bloom. This is an assessment after coming here a few times. I say this for a few reasons. The food is average. Not as good as some of the other Thai restaurants in the area but it is definitely decent. One of my favorites is the massaman curry. It has a great flavor. That being said it is more pricey than some but still appropriately priced for its location. The portions however have shrunk greatly over time. This is shady and not appreciated. They used to have an uncorking fee that was high for the valley. Now they have a full bar. The drinks are a bit pricey and nothing special. The owners are really nice and seem to take great pride in the place. The rest of the staff is pitiful. The servers are some of the worst of any restaurant i have been too. This is not because they weren't doing their job but because of their attitude. They are mostly angsty teenagers who don't understand how to provide true service. They are very curt and completely uninterested in the world. Quite a few times they even seemed annoyed that you would like interrupt their totally cool lives. I've had this unfortunate experience multiple times and it puts a damper on your whole meal. The inside is nice. Nothing special but it feels trendy and modern. They also have a little bit of outside seating for the nicer days which is a plus. If you're looking for a place to eat in the Promenade, this is a decent choice but I would go to one of the Thai restaurants over in Bethlehem if you can.

The food here is actually pretty solid. It tastes kind of like what my uncle (Indonesian with lots of experience in Southeast Asian cuisine) would make for family gatherings. For example, the chicken satay tasted like his, just a little too much sauce. The curries were decently spiced. But really, it was expensive for what I usually consider "everyday Asian food." Then again, this place has a nice ambiance and the food is served in stylish dishes with nice garnishes. It's a date night kind of place.

Judging from the reviews, looks like the quality of service varies greatly depending on who you get to serve you. Walked in on a Monday for dinner and got seated immediately. We chose to sit outside which was very nice. Waitress came out right away and took our order. Very friendly. I was surprised how quickly we got our food. I don't know the last thing about Thai food, but our food was very good. I had something along the lines of the tiger salmon and prawn curry special. I got it medium hot which was pretty spicy. Tasted great. Had the custard with pumpkin dessert. I don't like my desserts overly sweet. This particular dessert item was the perfect sweetness. No complaints here. This was my second time here. The last time was probably a year or 2 ago. Had no complaints back then either. Food tasted great. I did have the curry then too, so I can't really attest to the quality of their other dishes.

Yeah, it's hard to get a reservation on weekends. But this is one of the best places to eat in the Lehigh Valley. And when we recently went with some friends and had to wait for our table they were nice enough to open the wine first. It's always less painful waiting for a table with a drink in hand! There are some good things for vegetarians here. Try the Thai Corn Fritters for an appetizer. Love that honey plum sauce! The Vegan Tofu Appetizer also has a tasty sauce that makes it not at all like the bland tofu dishes that can sometimes be offered up in the name of tofu. There are the standard curry and noodle dishes with tofu and vegetable substitutes. But my favorite dish that I've tried is the spicy basil stir fry. Basil goes so well in Thai dishes. I can't resist getting this dish when I go. Good atmosphere here with some nice lighting and comfortable booths. The Lehigh Valley doesn't offer a lot of interesting places for vegetarians. But this is a good one. It's by far has the best Thai veggie food in the area. It's also BYOB! Another really good thing is that they have a separate vegan mini-menu. How cool is that? They really are very friendly and accommodating here. They take the time to go over all your dietary requests and seem to want to get it right. So vegans and vegetarians ya gotta go here. They'll really work with you.

Don't know why people give this place a 4 or 5 stars. Maybe the don't know what Thai food taste like. Way over price for lunch of $35 for 2 people. Portion is small and food is not worth writing about. Go to Thai Thai II and you get a good meal and never be disappointed. I eat out a lot on business trip and I know a good restaurant when I see one. This is one of the place to avoid. Decoration is ok but femaies stuff looks better especially the fake boobs.

White Orchids is pretty delicious but you have to know what items are worth the money and what not to bother with. Sadly in PA Thai is by-and-large still a white tablecloth/expensive choice. The best deals here are the curry bowls and stir fry, pretty much the stuff that runs under $15. The specials are hit-or-miss and expensive. My favorite dish is the Pad Prik King, choice of beef/chicken/shrimp/tofu (usually chicken for me) sauteed with green beans and carrots.. two of my favorite veggies. Desserts don't sound very Thai to me so I've never bothered with them. Cheesecake? Creme brulee? Meh. Fills up fast around dinner time so try it for lunch or make a reservation for dinner. It's BYOB but I've never B'd so I'm not sure if there's a corking fee or not. Service has been good in my experience.

I'd like to add a disclaimer that I've never eaten at the White Orchid. I did however call them to make a reservation a couple of weeks ago and their attitude was so obnoxious, snobby and ridiculous that I've been totally turned me off from eating their food. Dining isn't just about the food, it's about the whole experience and if my phone conversation is anything to go by, it's going to be a shitty experience at White Orchid. This is a approximate transcript of my telephone conversation: Me: Hi. Can I make a reservation for 3 tomorrow at 9pm? White Orchid: I'm sorry. Our last reservation is for 8.30pm M: What time do you take your last walk in? WO: 9pm. M: So you'll take a walk in at 9pm but not a reservation? WO: Yes. But if you walk in a few minutes late, like 9.02pm, we'll not seat you. M: Oh-kay. What time do you close? WO: 10pm M: Alright. Thanks. WO: Come on time. M: Thank you. I heard you the first time. I don't get their logic; they can seat a walk-in at 9pm but not take a reservation for the same time? Fine. Maybe they're afraid that people will come late and hence the kitchen will have to close late but to stop seating an HOUR before they close? It's not fine French dining. I don't see any souffles on the menu -- it's Thai food for Pete's sake! They can whip it up and send people on their way in 20min! I've seen it been done in LA, San Fran and even Bangkok. Incidentally, a friend's husband was at White Orchid that very same night for dinner. He had called a few days before that to make a reservation for a party of 8. WO told him that for a party that size, they'd have to take down his credit card no. Fair enough. Many fancy restaurants in NYC do that to minimize cancellations. However, what WO didn't tell him is that they actually put the charge of $90 (or $15 x 8) on his card to hold the table! He only found this out on the day he went there for dinner and saw the charge on his bill! That ain't right, child. That ain't right. From my personal experience, restaurants typically take your credit card number down and only if the entire party doesn't show do they charge you. Anyway, my friend's hubby showed up with a party of 6, instead of a party of 8, so of course, the money grubbers at WO charge them $30 ($15 x 2) for the two missing heads. To make things worse, due to the enormously LARGE party involved, they wouldn't let them order a la carte but instead forced them to order the set dinner (which I surmise, guarantees them a certain amount of money per head). Since when was having a party larger than 4 make a la carte a non-option? Excuse me, did I miss this in "Restaurant Dining and Ordering Etiquette 101"? The icing on the cake, however, was at the end of the meal. Yes. I'm talking about dessert. The problem? WO ran out of it, so half of the dinner party ended up with sweets and half was left without. But ALL were left with a bitter taste in their mouths. Isn't it ironic that WO ran out of the dessert in the set menu which they so graciously forced my friend's hubby to order? What kind of business is this? a) A shady one b) Filled with con artists c) Run by scammers d) All of the above. I've heard their food is good, but not great. Either way, it doesn't warrant this kind of behavior. I'm never going there. Ever!

Have been here a few times and the food was great. I love the soup made with lemongrass and ncoconut milk (Tom something?) I even found a version to make at home. Always get the Pad Thai with extra spices. A little pricey for Thai, but very good.

I appreciate that they offer a vegan menu. Many Thai restaurants use fish sauce even when you request vegetarian. Having said that, I wish the food was more inspired. It was so-so. However, the service was horrible. I've eaten here a few times, since choices for vegetarians are very limited in the Valley. This last time I was with two other friends. I felt like we were annoying the wait staff. At first they attempted to seat us at a table adjacent to the kitchen door. When I asked if we could sit outside (it was a very nice evening, and there were plenty of empty outdoor tables), the hostess paused, and then reassigned us. Why hadn't she even thought to ask if we wanted to dine outside? From there it just got worse, with food arriving at odd intervals. And the food was just not worth the bother. They could do a much better job. For the price of the meal, they should.

This place is a travesty. I had a table for two reserved on a Friday night. Waited for a good half hour (there is no waiting area, either). We were seated essentially on top of the table next to us. So close that the waitress could not stand next to our table. Ordered apps and dinner. Dinner came out after we had two bites of apps. My pad Thai was just noodles with some over cooked chicken. No veggies, no nothing. When we asked to order dessert, they said the kitchen was closed. No warning and it was only about 9:45 PM. This is crappy American Asian food with poor service, no ambiance and an overpriced and inauthentic menu.

Food is definitely not bad but also definitely over-priced for what you get. Sometimes, especially lately, has been coming out cold as well. More "show" than "substance", good for people that want something a little different but afraid to try a more "traditional" ethinic place. Without a doubt Kow Thai in Allentown is better choice if not looking for a place to eat at. MOST ANNOYING IS THE $5/bottle CORKING FEE. I refuse to go back any longer just on principle of that situation.

Very small portions for the money. Don't expect to get a large portion of protein, but the flavors are actually very good.

My husband took me here for my birthday after I had heard great things about it. Firstly, it gets points for being BYOB. The food was good, but inconsistent. (Not unusual for a restaurant less than 2 months old.) Dan had a pineapple stir fry which was great. And my coconut soup was awesome. I had classic Pad Thai, and found it a bit bland. Perhaps I should have ordered it hotter? The spring roles we ordered were only ok as well. Waitstaff was good, but nothing to write home about. I dug the decor, which was a few steps above casual, hip and fun. Worth checking out.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times and apart from the service being OK and sometimes taking extremely long for our main courses to be served, I liked the food. Recently, my boyfriend and I went back to this restaurant. Since he was fasting, he ordered the Pad Thai with no eggs. When his dish finally came after a loooooong time, it had eggs in it so he had it returned. After waiting another century, his food came again but did not look right and did not taste good at all! So he had it returned again and decided to skip dinner all together. When the check came, they still charged us for his food AND added ~$9 to the regular Pad Thai price because he made modification to their dish. We did not know taking off ingredients from a dish for religious reasons will cost extra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... It did not make sense at all. We tried talking to the manager to dispute the charges for his whole meal altogether and the manager was rude and obnoxious! Never again will I step into this place!

Very good and fresh food! Seafood dishes are wonderful, and curry bowls are very tasty. For appetizers, the Thai corn fritters with plum dipping sauce are amazing! Upon each visit we were seated immediately without reservation, and the service is always spot on. The owner takes the time to come over and say hello whenever he sees me and my girlfriend.

Favorite sit-down Thai Restaurant in LV area. Big fan of the curries which are a bit richer than alot of the other curries I have had at other places. The Spicy Thai Basil stir-fry and fresh summer rolls are killer too. Place is very trendy inside and prices are pretty reasonable. It is BYOB, but they just instituted a $5 corkage fee, which really stinks. I stopped taking any B since this was imposed. Place fills up quick so make a reservation to be safe. I usually get here at least once a week.

The biggest issue with this restaurant is the service or perhaps I should say..the lack of service. I was there with my family for my birthday. The waiter was nearly rude in that he did not show up or check back with us. At one point, we asked him a menu question, he answered it and walked away. I waited 10 minutes for a beer (the bar was about 6 feet from our table). I specifically asked for my green curry mild and my brother asked for his basil stir fry medium. Mine came blazing spicy and his was nearly no spice. I attribute this to the waiter's error. The food was very good if it had been prepared as we had asked. My husband had an outstanding salmon dish and my mother's scallops were excellent as well. All of the appetizers we had were delicious. For the price range of this restaurant, the service should have been impeccable and attentive. I noticed that other reviewers experienced service issues as well. It is a shame since the food is quite good.

Americanized psuedo-Thai catering to people who are afraid to try "ethnic foods". Overpriced, boring unflavored food.

Little did we know the first night we went two years ago was opening night. Quite frankly the staff was new and inexperienced and motivitad us to stay away initially. However, we have yet to find Thai food as good anywhere we've been from Manhattan to Baltimore. We usually live on appetizers and the pad thai. I ordered the Lemongrass soup HOT and couldnt feel my lips!! IT was great. THe only thing i wish they'd fix is to get pieces of lettuce you you can use for the Letture Wraps. But its so good you'll lick the sauce off of your fingers. Its a BYOB so make sure to grab a bottle in the State Store @ the promenade!!

I used to live in Allentown, PA and I love it here. The Thomas Yum and the Pad Prik King are my favorites. Be careful about how spicy you get it though..sometimes Medium Hot will actually be Hot, but not always. Seriously though, I used to eat here weekly because it was the only decent thai food I could find in the area.

This place is really hit or miss. (A hit for me) I've been there three times. First time we phoned in a reservation and they gave us a table right away by the door outside. I had a view of the fire extinguisher the whole night (gave my girlfriend the good seat), not really a big deal. The second time we made a reservation and got there right on time (if not early), and we waited at least 30 minutes for our table. When we did get the table, we were crammed between two other tables, one of which had some obnoxious girls. The third time we didn't make a reservation, got seated almost right away and we got a nice booth. So as for the comments about the staff, I would have to agree. We had excellent waiters every time, but the other people haven't been so good. The first time I called to make a reservation they had to transfer me to someone else who could place it and so I was put on hold. After ten minutes I hung up and called back and got the same guy. It wasn't a big deal to me because they were still brand new at the time. I would have to agree with the "white highschool teen" comment. As a Southern Lehigh graduate, I can say that getting cocky white kids working there is no surprise. I haven't been to the other restaurants at the Promenade, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same. Again, let me say that our waiters have always been great. As for the food, it can be a little difficult. This is the first and only Thai restaurant I've been to, so knowing what dishes might be good was a little rough. I've always gotten something delicious though, despite my lack of knowledge. I've been satisfied with my meal every time. Their appetizers are also really delicious. I usually don't order appetizers, but I'm glad I did here. However, every time I've been there I've tried my girlfriend's food, and every time it's been something I really didn't like. The problem with that is on paper those dishes sounded good to me. So when someone tells me they didn't like it there, I can understand, but I'd say it's probably just a bad dish. I also don't like that they charged me for more rice. I really like the atmosphere there. I like that there are people there who just walk around filling your water glass and that they use nice containers. I also like the waterfall display thing. It is a little bit small, but that's just how it goes. It tends to be crowded every time I'm there, which says something to me. In short, I think the food there is fantastic and the servers are too. The people in charge of seating could be improved, but I've always blamed it on the fact they the restaurant is still "fairly new." The downsides to this place really don't even come close to outweighing the goodsides.

As a lover of curry I frequent this Resturant. I have been coming here for a few years. The atmosphere is both relaxing and upscale. Curry flavor run the standard spectrum and colors. All are arguably some of the best around. Tip The spice level can be inconsistent between visits. I always ask for a lower spice level and request a spice rack. I highly recommend the lahp it is one of the only places I the valley that makes it and the spices are spot on.

I've been going here since the first year that it opened and, yes, some of the prices seem a bit up there, but the quality of the food is more than worth it. On a weekend or holiday the wait time and service isn't always as stellar as it usually is, but that's expected. White Orchids offers a large assortment of vegan and gluten-free options, which is always a nice bonus. Owner and staff are always very friendly and make us feel appreciated. Favorite go-to dishes: Pad Thai (vegan and regular) with crispy tofu and extra veggies, Drunken Noodles with crispy tofu, Pineapple Fried Rice, Panang Curry, and the Basil Fried Rice.

We used to grab this as takeout all the time, but it's too expensive now. Unfortunately, the atmosphere isn't great, very busy, loud and in a strip mall. If you don't mind busy places, and over-priced food - it is delicious. I highly recommend the Pad Thai. Never get the iced coffee though, ewers.

Such a disappointment. I went there with high expectations given its high price and prime location. I thought they would deliver a high-end product. I had chicken Panang and it was extremely oily. See the picture! The portion size was also small for the prices. If looking for better thai at cheaper price, go to thai avenue.

Food was alright, a bit pricey for the quality... Very nice inside though. Friendly atmosphere and people. This is a good place to come for dinner, etc with family and friends. Good selection of drinks. Bar inside.

Decent Thai. I did like that the thai spicy is actually spicy for me--I like spicy, spicy food and can handle more heat than most. The Pad Kee Mao was ok, but nothing to write home about. The basil chicken my friend ordered looked better. We ordered take out so no comments about the restaurant itself.
